Virtual Speaker Series - How to ‘Save Like a Girl’ -- Closing the Retirement Savings Gap

While women are poised to be good savers, there are still some roadblocks that we need to overcome. These roadblocks include:

  • Career interruptions impacting earnings potential
  • Reduced access to an employer-sponsored retirement plans
  • Women are still not making as much as their male counterparts
  • Women are less aggressive investors
  • Women are living longer than men
  • Short-term and long-term effects of the Coronavirus Pandemic
This presentation defines what it means to “save like a girl” by understanding the challenges women face when it comes to earning, saving and investing. Topics covered include access to a workplace retirement plan, equal pay for equal work, understanding your worth, talking to a financial professional and how and why to save early and save often. Each topic will be presented in detail, including relevant case studies, as well as a discussion around solutions to improving financial outcomes.
